Cow Appreciation Day

Last week I wrote about Cow Appreciation Day and let me tell you, it was a hoot!
Every guest who arrived dressed up like a cow received FREE chicken—and everyone had a great time!
In addition to the in-store promotion, we also offered an additional FREE Chick-fil-A sandwich to anyone who posted a photo of their herd on our Facebook fan site (link). I’ve posted some of the photos here for you to enjoy!
Go check out our fan page for more great photos and “like” us while you’re there!
And if you were at Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A on Holcombe & Buffalo and you have photo of your herd—post it there! Everyone who posts their photo gets the coupon—but that only lasts through Saturday the 16th!

Cow Appreciation Day is tomorrow!

If you’re not excited, you probably don’t know what Cow Appreciation Day is. So read on!

The cows love Chick-fil-A. Why wouldn’t they? It helps them on their mission for self-preservation. So we set aside one day a year to celebrate the cow! And while we’re at it, we celebrate our guests too.

If you visit any Chick-fil-A tomorrow dressed as a cow, you’ll receive FREE chicken! How much free chicken is up to you: just a cow print shirt or accessory? That’ll get you a free entrĂ©e (but you’ll want to bring your wallet for the waffle fries and Coca-cola).  Want a FREE combo meal? Just show up fully covered in cow print—from head to hoof! Now that’s a celebration!

As a company, we like to have fun with Cow Appreciation Day. Our employees, managers, owner… even our President and COO, Dan Cathy gets in on the fun!

(That's his dad and Chick-fil-a founder Truett Cathy in the background!)
So don all white tomorrow and stick on some black spots… or grab a cow print scarf. Get creative! Then swing by Chick-fil-A on Holcombe and Buffalo to check out all the other herds… and pick up some FREE chicken while you’re at it!

Facebook

Did you know that our store: Chick-fil-A on Holcombe & Buffalo has it’s OWN facebook fan page? If you’re not a fan, you should be! It’s easy, click here

Today we had a marketing meeting to talk about what we wanted to accomplish on the facebook fan page:

It basically came down to this: we want to be able to offer real-time tips, information and specials to our fans! Whether it’s to let you know that the cow is roaming around the store, that we’re sampling milkshakes, that  a giveaway is coming up or that we have a new friendly face behind the counter—we want you to have the inside scoop! So head on over to our fanpage and click the “like” button. We’re sure you’ll be glad you did!

Heart of the Home

In my home, the kitchen is where most of the action takes place. It’s where we entertain, connect and nourish. At Chick-fil-A, we also have a lot of action taking place in the kitchen!

Every morning you can find the kitchen bustling with activity. There are salads and wraps to prepare, chicken to bread and catering orders to gather.

But the activity doesn’t stop once the morning duties are done. We are dedicated to giving our guests a fresh product. So almost as soon as you can turn around we’re back to chopping fresh tomatoes, assembling fruit cups and making our delicious Carrot & Raisin Salad.

That barely scratches the surface of what our kitchen crew is focused on every day. You might not always get to see their smiling faces, but they are the heart of our Chick-fil-A home!

Family Night

Growing up in Houston, my family used to eat at the same restaurant almost every week on Kid’s Night. It was nothing too special, just a balloon for me and a price break for my parents. But years later, I still look back at those nights fondly. Being regulars, we started to recognize some of the employees and even some of the other patrons! Each week we’d chit-chat with them and with each other. There was no homework or TV to distract us—just good food, family conversation and most importantly (for me) a balloon.
Years later that restaurant closed. As a part of the closing process, they sold all of their chairs. One of which sits in my office to this day! Those meals were more than just dinner, more than just a special balloon—they were memories that stay with me to this day. What I’d give to sit around those old tables with my mom, dad and brother—to have Ms. Linda pour more water in my glass or Mr. Gary ask me if I want extra ketchup.
Why not start some family memories for your kids? Chick-fil-A on Holcombe & Buffalo has family night every Tuesday from 6pm-8pm. Sometimes there’s a craft, other times there is face-painting—there are always balloons and FREE IceDream® for kids. Those things are fun (and we spend quite some time planning and putting on the details) but I know your children will think fondly some day of Ms. Brenda who always has a smile or Ms. Valerie who refreshes beverages and keeps the tables cleaned. But especially, they’ll remember the time that you spent together as a family at Chick-fil-A on Holcombe & Buffalo.
